Leachate

SX-EW recovery following acid leaching has been the fastest growing sector of new copper production. This technique has made it possible to reduce the cost of producing copper, gold and silver from low grade deposits. It can also have a huge impact on overall economies when used in conjunction with a conventional mill. To heap leach gold and silver, weak cyanide solutions are irrigated on top of the heaps and precious metals are recovered using carbon absorption or zinc precipitation.

The process involves ADS perforated collector pipe that is laid at intervals over a leaching pad. Crushed aggregate is piled over the pad. Sprinklers saturate the ore with cyanide solution to convert minerals to a chemical compound. Solution enters perforated pipe and is carried by gravity to open ponds for final extraction of gold and silver.

ADS Mining Products

ADS corrugated HDPE pipe has the toughness, structural performance, and resistance to abrasion and chemicals to withstand the unique stresses of mining applications. Polyethylene performs successfully in a pH range of 1.5 to 14. In underground and surface mines all over the world, ADS pipe has the strength and durability for a wide variety of drainage and processing functions.

  • SaniTite® HP
The Sanitite HP boasts size ranges 300 mm– 1500 mm, including a dual wall design for 300 mm– 750 mm and a unique triple wall design for the 750 mm– 1500 mm sizes.

  • N-12® (per AASHTO)
With its smooth interior and dual wall construction, N-12 pipe delivers high flow rates even under tons of ore. N-12 pipe has been successfully installed under depths as great as 150 metres of ore, and has been designed to perform at twice that depth. It is often specified as the collector pipe in heap leaching operations and for main lines to transfer collected leachate to processing areas. It is an excellent choice for culverts and for drainage of earth fill dams, sedimentation ponds, and hollow fills. N-12 pipe is offered in 100 mm– 1500 mm diameters with both soil-tight and water-tight joints, and in solid or perforated styles.

  • N-12® (per CSA)
N-12 ® (per CSA B182.8) pipe is the Canadian standard for corrugated polyethylene drainage pipe. Introduced in 2002, N-12 dual wall pipe with its smooth interior wall and corrugated exterior wall, offers exceptional hydraulics and strength. Built using application specific high-density polyethylene, N-12 corrugated pipe also provides superior corrosion and abrasion resistance making it an excellent alternative to reinforced concrete and corrugated metal pipe. These properties have led to the increasing approval and acceptance of N-12 drainage pipe in storm water applications across the country. The certification of our N-12 pipe is by a third party agency accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.

  • Fittings
ADS manufactures the broadest line of fittings in the industry to simplify installations for your drainage applications. Whether your gravity flow application calls for split couplers, bell couplers, bell and spigot joining systems, cleats, or gaskets, ADS has a fitting solution.

  • Geosynthetics/Geogrids Erosion Control
ADS offers a full line of geo-composite products: woven and non-woven fabrics for soil stabilization and rut prevention in unpaved roads, erosion control mats to protect embankments and shorelines, and geogrids for reinforcement of weak soils or strata.

  • Single Wall
Available in 75 mm–600 mm diameters, and in coils up to 500 feet (smaller diameters), our standard corrugated pipe is economical and easy to install. In both perforated and non-perforated versions, single-wall pipe is used for leachate collection and gravity transfer of water solutions throughout the mining environment.

  • AdvanEdge®
This panel-shaped geo-composite pipe is designed for rapid drainage response. It has twice the soil contact area of 100 mm round pipe, and can drain a given quantity of water in about 60% of the time. With its slim 1.5-inch thickness, and available in 300 mm and 450 mm widths, AdvanEDGE pipe is commonly used as a perimeter drain.
